Drupal and Joomla Business Ecosystem

I take advantage of the article published by Dries Buyetart entitled " Joomla vs Drupal: business models and commercial ecosystem " on his blog to mention some aspects that seem relevant to me.

1. Drupal is growing by leaps and bounds, especially in the business field, where it is gaining a lot of ground in large-scale projects. Basically, this is the current Drupal commercial ecosystem. Joomla, for its part, has matured a lot in the field of smaller projects.

2. In the business field, the vast majority of Joomla companies offer services of licensed modules, support and templates. Lately they have begun a process of adopting other CMS's such as Drupal and Wordpress. They find this market very attractive, especially in Drupal given the need for templates. of higher quality.

3. The arrival of Joomla 1.6 does not seem to be arousing much interest in the community given that it is an Intermediate version, while Drupal with version 7 and Wordpress 3 promise a great step in the adoption of new paradigms and competitive advantages over the first .

4. The growth of competitiveness in Drupal has meant that a large number of users have decided to use the platform, which represents a great challenge for the community given the need to generate greater documentation and support around it.

I definitely agree with each of the points mentioned above. At SeeD we have seen a growing activity in the Spanish community, especially in Latin America, around the creation of material that helps improve the adoption of Drupal in each of the countries. The growing interest of governments around Drupal has also motivated many companies to include support for the platform in their portfolio, which has helped create an entire ecosystem of opportunities in the market, thus achieving greater dissemination in other areas such as education. We hope that the community continues to grow, especially in Colombia, where we hope to be an active part of the collective initiatives that arise from it.
