For more than a year, preparations were made by the Drupal Association, global and local volunteers, and finally last week we had more than 250 attendees from many parts of the world in Bogotá, around Drupal. Dries Buytaert (creator of the Drupal project) and the top 20 Drupal core developers were present. Excellent keynotes, very good talks and, best of all, very productive sprints that were represented by important advances in the race to launch Drupal 8.
This was a small edition compared to the more than 4000 attendees of the one held in North America or the 2500 in Europe, however it had all the characteristics and quality that characterizes a DrupalCon, one of the aspects that stood out the most was the integration among all attendees who had the opportunity to eat, party and be entertained in the Latin American style with salsa, merengue and drinks typical of the region.
The Latin American community feels renewed and ready to be an important part of the future of Drupal, as they have made it known by announcing the next edition of the Drupal Summit Latino in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Many thanks to the attendees for accepting the invitation and we hope that the next DrupalCon in Latin America will be as well attended as one in Europe.
