Jorge Tadeo University is a pluralistic institution where different types of academic programs are managed in different branches of education. This means that it has high volumes of content and information. For this reason, the University's directives saw the need to make a radical change in its digital strategy in a way that would give new tools to both the student community and the management of internal content within the institution. Together with the University directives, at Seed we carry out an entire consulting and support process regarding the benefits of choosing Drupal 7 versus the possibility of choosing a different platform.
After the above, following a structured definition process, we entered the development step, in which all the necessary components were integrated, as well as the content manager, essential for managing large loads of information, as was necessary in this case.
Among the main features that were included were the dynamic structures that helped give better management of the portal, greatly favoring the generation of microsites. This considerably helped to give greater versatility to the creation of urls and advertising banners.
As for the modules, we can highlight that they were managed from a flexible programming standard that allows for full adaptability to the needs of the University. Of course, we cannot leave aside one of the most important ones, the one that manages the entire part of mass mailings and newsletters. It is important to highlight that this generated greater freedom in the storage of the institution's databases.
In the topic of information collection and migration, it is highlighted that it has evolved to be much more dynamic between nodes, refining internal processes and content more quickly.
According to our development leader in this project, Luis Correa, “the attention between end users helped decentralize the information, thus giving the necessary permissions for the generation of content in a simpler and more intuitive way.” All this is part of the great capacity that the Drupal CMS offers .
Project leaders at Jorge Tadeo University say:
-
We use the Drupal 7 distribution that was created in SeeD EM (SeeD Dist alfa5)
-
One of the most strategic points of the Tadeo Digital project has been the collection of very clear and detailed information by the people who make up the project so that this is translated into functionalities and types of content relevant to users.
-
Very dynamic and flexible structures have been implemented within the portal that have facilitated the creation of microsites, landing pages and advertising banners.
-
The generated modules handle a programming standard that allows them to be adapted to the dynamism desired in the portal.
-
One of the things that has caught the attention of end users is the ability to decentralize information, giving everyone the necessary permissions for generating content in a very simple and intuitive way.
-
One of the most active modules that has made a big difference compared to the previous platform is the email sending module (newsletter), a fairly complete module that allows you to personalize the newsletters or use pre-established templates and be in permanent contact with the community. student.
For Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, it has been a fundamental change in the direction of its digital strategy and Drupal has become a great ally in this change.
